Though it originated as a holiday to give gifts to the poor, today Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday. It originated in Great Britain and is celebrated in a number of countries that previously formed part of the British Empire. — Wikipedia

The Boxing Day holiday is celebrated the day after Christmas, on December 26. Or often the next weekday after Christmas. Boxing Day is also celebrated in many Commonwealth countries, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

People give gifts and exchange Christmas cards on Boxing Day. Many people volunteer at soup kitchens or donate to food banks.
