FinTech Data Analyst for African Market

An established microfinance group, Microcred is extending its range of financial services to reach new customer segments beyond it’s traditional micro entrepreneur or SME customers. This new business line -Baobab Digital- will be digitally driven to be relevant, scalable and profitable.

We are looking for someone to support our product development, sales and marketing teams with data analysis.

You

As a Data Analyst you are detail-oriented and conscientious, analytical and curious. You’re a strong problem-solver, who uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to get things done. And on top of it all, you’re someone who wonders “What if?” and then seeks out the solution. You find yourself comfortable with complex analysis but the reality behind the data is what drives you.

Your Mission

You will be responsible for analyzing large data sets to distill insights from data and connect disparate ideas into cohesive, well-grounded recommendations using creative, structured and analytical thinking.

You will participate in the product development cycle. You will build AI solutions like smart notifications or credit scoring. You will also create effective, scalable, and easy to understand reporting solutions (e.g. dashboards).

You belong to the Innovation department, in charge of product development. You will report to the Head of Mass Market at Microcred Group, and be supported by a central team of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Communication and Marketing Officers, and Software Engineers. You will work with international data science consultants.

Microcred has developed one of the most advanced data warehousing capabilities in its industry. The data warehouse is built using latest cloud technologies making it a readily consumable resource for the data analysts. It is supported by a team of data engineers.

Position based in Paris, France.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product owners to prioritize and answer the most important questions where analytics will have material impact.
  • Use analytical reasoning to identify problems and develop hypotheses, and use your experience in analytics tools and scientific rigor to produce actionable insights at scale.
  • Build visualizations that expose the health and performance of our products, create dashboards.
  • Implement and maintain solutions like credit scoring.
  • Execute ad hoc analysis as needed by the product owners
  • Boost product / service intake : extract, format lists for marketing campaigns (SMS / call center campaigns), launch campaigns, monitor marketing campaigns impact.
  • Act as an advocate of data driven culture at our company.

Skills

  • Master’s degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences)
  • Experience with articulating product questions, pulling data from datasets (SQL) and using statistics to arrive at an answer
  • Proficiency in R, SQL, knowledge of Phyton is a plus
  • Experience in scripting with SQL, extracting large sets of data, and design of ETL flows
  • Work experience in an inter-disciplinary/cross-functional field.
  • Distinctive problem solving skills and impeccable business judgment.
  • Capable of translating analysis results into business recommendations. Strong written and verbal communication skills is a plus
  • French and English are mandatory.
  • Experience with digital financial products would be an asset.
