Job Description

In a growth context, we are looking for a

Senior Risk Analytics Manager (w/m)

The successful candidate will report to the Group Chief Risk Officer and will lead the risk analytics unit of Microcred Holding. S/He will collaborate with all departments’ heads to deliver risk analytics needs.

S/He will manage a team of data scientists at the Group Center.

As Senior Manager for this function, your responsibilities include the design, execution, and delivery of analyses and data products ranging from algorithm creation, predictive modeling and forecasting, to dashboards and ad-hoc data pulls.

The role requires hands-on application of and in-depth knowledge of data science tools, involving combining traditional and non-traditional techniques to solve key business problems and opportunities. This role will also require strong business acumen, the ability to interact with distant subsidiaries and the delivery of end-to-end analytical solutions — from conceptualizing an analytical framework for a specific problem to translating the insights back to actionable business recommendations.

You will drive the deployment of Risk analytics tools to support Subsidiairies’ credit and collection process and build a robust portfolio quality management culture for Microcred.

You will ensure close cooperation with the Operations team at Group Center and Subsidiaries levels to deploy performance oversight tools, with Finance teams to contribute to planning process, and with IT to support digital solutions impacting credit and collections processes.

You will demonstrate strong interpretative and analytical skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and provide a professional, objective and independent viewpoint. Previous experience in credit risk or data analytics is sought for this role, as is previous experience in data management and report scheduling, including process documentation and controls.

You are passionate about analytics, an expert on the evolving trends and approaches for analyzing big data, and excel in problem-solving with a positive, can-do attitude. Other foundational qualities include creative thinking, flexibility, a strong analytical ability to address complex issues, hands-on experience working with large volumes of transaction data, and the desire to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities :

· Champion the use of data-driven decision-making. Foster analytics competency to support and increasingly guide fact-based and timely decision-making

· Overhaul and develop regular reports to drive insight into the performance of the portfolio — implement operating rhythm of portfolio reviews for each subsidiaries and monitor performance vs. plan

· Perform portfolio quality analysis, pro-actively or on request, to support operational effectiveness and enhanced portfolio performance

· Provide analysis and risk recommendations through customer & portfolio profiling

· Develop and support thorough analytical processes and procedures to identify risks and opportunities in the origination stream and portfolio collections activities.

· Deliver high quality data-driven analyses that provide key insights leading to actionable recommendations to solve portfolio challenges and optimize business credit and collections strategies.

· Develop forecasting models to enhance profitability while reducing/maintaining similar loss profile and ensure sufficient risk adjusted returns. Deliver decision scores — credit / behavior / marketing — per requests

· Analyze and forecast credit & collections performance and drive loss & provision forecasting process — participate and contributes to BP process.

· Represent Risk function in key projects : IFRS 9 implementation, BankBI deployment, ELF roll-out, acquisition portfolio due diligence …

· Identify and respond to analytics / data trends and opportunities. Research and develop next-generation analytical techniques/tools where existing ones are not adequate to address business challenges.

· Work with senior leaders and business partners to understand critical business problems and areas of opportunity, influence to implement recommendations

· Manage and execute projects independently from end-to-end; work with cross-functional and regional teams to deliver on these projects.

· Be a subject-matter expert and thought leader on risk-related analytics, enhancing Microcred’s analytics capabilities, with a strong understanding of all products and portfolio dynamics

· Continuously strive to increase the value that risk analytics brings to Microcred and be an advocate for it

· Manage multiple analytics requests and priorities at the same time

· Manage a small team of technical experts

· Examples of specific analytics initiatives driven by Risk include :

- Operational fraud detection: from anomaly detection to help the auditors be more efficient in their work to predictive analytic anomaly detection models, and suspicious transaction behavior detection mechanisms.

- Operational performance analysis: generating performance indicators from existing data upon request from the OPS team.

- Credit risk and credit scorecard: from no data driven prediction of default behaviors to building from the ground up a system to predict customer default comparable to large banks. This includes predicting default before a loan is given, and tracking the evolution of default probability with time.

- Automation of loan disbursement process: Building client profiles from thin file analytics

- Collections performance and portfolio quality: deploying segmented roll rate analysis to enhance collection strategies and support provisioning process

Profile

Technical skills

· Prior experience in financial inclusion services, in the area of credit risk and / or data analytics.

· Exposure to Africa and / or China unbanked sectors

· A minimum of 10 years experience of leadership in data analytics, including reporting, statistical modeling, forecasting, Big Data.

· Proven ability to translate operational and strategic challenges into data driven analysis enabling optimized decision making

· Written and spoken English

· Experience with leading visualization tools (Tableau, BIME, Qlikview), MS Office and Google suite

· Proficient in SQL and R statistical package, Python a plus; Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB)

· Demonstrated familiarity with portfolio management and data analysis

· Degree or MS in a quantitative fields like Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computing and Engineering
