I'll never forget that fateful day

When our startup's future began to sway

We had raised ten million dollars, you see

But our product was not what customers wanted to be

I sat with a potential buyer, so sure

That our solution was the cure

But as we spoke, I began to see

The problem was not with them, but with me

We had built something that looked shiny and new

But it didn't solve the problems that they knew

They needed something different, something more

And I realized our startup was in store for a fall

We tried to pivot, to change our course

But it was too late, we had lost the source

Of what made us special, what made us unique

And our startup slowly began to weaken and shrink

I learned a valuable lesson that day

To always listen to what customers have to say

To truly understand their needs and their pain

And to build a product that can help them gain

So if you're building a startup of your own

Remember this story, and let it be known

That funding and hype are not enough

To create a product that customers love and can't get enough.
