The notion of gathering empirical evidence in enterprise architecture resonates deeply. It is a refreshing shift from the rigid, theoretical frameworks that often fail to translate into practical success. Studying how enterprise architecture is performed in real-life scenarios, we can distill actionable insights that are grounded in reality. This approach echoes the principles of user experience (UX) design, where understanding the user's needs and behaviors is paramount.

In the same vein, empirical evidence-based enterprise architecture can help bridge the gap between theoretical ideals and the complexities of real-world implementation. It is a way to rationalize and solidify the portfolio of applications and technologies, ensuring that the practice of enterprise architecture is firmly established within a company.

Today, as I sat in a meeting discussing the integration of a new software tool, I couldn't help but think of the story of Daedalus and Icarus. Just as Icarus's wings, crafted by his ingenious father, melted under the intense heat of the sun, our grand plans and frameworks can crumble when faced with the harsh realities of implementation. It is in these moments that we must turn to empirical evidence, to the artifacts that describe the static nature of enterprise architecture elements, and to the voices of those who perform it every day.
