Background

Data in a report often needs to be sliced and diced to get the desired result. For this, a slicer is used. Let’s say you have multiple slicers in your report page and you have selected some values in each slicer for analyzing the data. Now, once you are done with it, you want to clear the slicer selection. How to do that?

a) Go to each slicer and clear the selection — That’s too much of work if there are multiple slicers!! 😭

b) Use bookmark + Image/Button to clear the selection — This is how people used to do it until now. There are multiple articles which shows how to do it. Radacad is one of them. But this method comes with extra work of creating bookmark and linking it to button. 😢

c) Use the new “Clear all slicers” button! — This is a recent update on Power BI made in March 2023. It makes it easy to clear the selection. 😎

In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to use Clear all slicers button.

The Data

I have a report page with some visualizations on it and few slicers.

Now I make the selection required for my analysis.

I want to reset the slicers to their default state.
