Summary of the Project

This project involved conducting comprehensive data analysis to uncover insights regarding project benefits, regional impact, and effective implementation strategies, aiming to optimize profitability and inform decision-making for future projects.

The project management dataset provided consisted of various columns, including Project Name, Project Description, Project Type, Project Manager, Region, Department, Project Cost, Project Benefit, Complexity, Status, Completion%, Phase, Year, Month, Start Date, and End Date. The dataset was used to create interactive Power BI dashboards with slicers for project name and project type.

Findings

After conducting a thorough analysis of the data, the following key findings were observed:

1. Project Benefit Analysis:

- The year 2022 had the highest project benefit, amounting to 237,421,957, which was 68.07% higher than the lowest project benefit in 2025, totaling 141,267,637 and there was a positive correlation between project benefit and total project cost. The higher the project benefit, the higher the Project Cost.

- In terms of the total proportion of project benefits, 2022 accounted for 27.17%.

- The largest difference between project benefit and project cost also occurred in the year 2022, with project benefit exceeding project cost by 123,117,383.

COST AND BENEFIT

2. Project Type Breakdown:

- The year 2025 had the highest project benefit, reaching 62,451,814, which was 630.68% higher than the lowest project benefit in 2024, totaling 8,547,124.

- Income Generation projects had the highest overall value, with 2022 accounting for 33.10% of the total Income Generation.

- Process Improvement projects had the lowest overall value, with 2021 accounting for 23.93% of the total.

- Working Capital projects showed significant variation, with 2022 accounting for 27.95% of the total.

3. Regional Analysis:

- The North region had the highest project benefit at 300,878,329, followed by West, South, and East regions.

- The North region also had the highest project cost at 140,684,150, followed by West, South, and East regions.

4. Phase Analysis:

- Phase 4 — Implementation had the highest completion percentage rate at 20.02, which was 66.97% higher than the lowest sum in Phase 1 — Explore, totaling 11.99.

- Phase 4 — Implement accounted for 23.24% of the completion percentage across all phases.

Data Limitations

It is important to acknowledge the limitations of the dataset used for this analysis. The following limitations were identified:

  1. Lack of Specific Location References: The dataset did not contain specific references to the exact locations within the regions. Therefore, it is not possible to determine precisely which specific places within each region were more profitable. Further granularity in the data would have provided more actionable insights.
  2. Projections and Reliability: As of the current year, 2023, the projections for 2024 and 2025 should be considered with caution. Economic and socio-economic factors can significantly impact project benefits and costs. Therefore, relying solely on the projections for future years may not provide accurate estimates.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions drawn from the data analysis, the following recommendations are suggested:

  1. Focus on 2022 Projects: Given that 2022 exhibited the highest Project Benefit and the largest difference between Project Benefit and Project Cost, it is advisable to prioritize projects executed in this year. These projects have shown the potential for significant returns.
  2. Emphasize Income Generation Projects: Considering that Income Generation projects yielded the highest overall value, allocating resources and efforts towards such projects can contribute to revenue growth and financial success.
  3. Regional Exploration: Although the dataset lacks specific location references, further exploration into the North region can be beneficial due to its highest sum of Project Benefit and Project Cost. Identifying specific areas within the North region that contribute to these outcomes can guide decision-making for future projects.
  4. Effective Project Implementation: The success observed in Phase 4 — Implement, which displayed the highest sum of Completion%, suggests the importance of focusing on the execution phase. Ensuring effective implementation across all project phases can enhance project outcomes and overall success.

These findings and conclusions provide valuable insights for project management decisions, enabling stakeholders to prioritize projects with higher benefits, focus on specific project types, allocate resources to regions with potential, and emphasize effective implementation in project phases.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the analysis of the project management dataset revealed valuable insights regarding Project Benefit, Project Type, Regional Impact, and Project Phase. Leveraging these findings can guide project management decisions and resource allocation. However, it is essential to consider the data limitations, such as the absence of specific location references and the potential uncertainty associated with future projections. By utilizing the recommendations provided and continually refining the analysis based on updated data, stakeholders can optimize project selection, prioritize income-generating projects, explore regional opportunities, and emphasize effective project implementation, leading to enhanced project outcomes and organizational success.
