On-premises Data Gateway Monitoring Series — Part 0: Why should I care about monitoring?

This article is part of a series of “pill” blog posts, born with the aim of treating in detail a topic often overlooked, but which is most often the cause of performance problems seemingly inexplicable. We’re talking about the On-premises Data Gateway in Enterprise mode (Data Gateway for short) and the workload it can handle.

People generally associate the Data Gateway with “an extension” of Power BI. However, don’t forget that the Data Gateway can connect on-premises data sources with multiple Microsoft technologies, which are: Azure Analysis Service, Azure Logic Apps, Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.

That said, some of my colleagues and I set out to write a sort of “logbook” of the activities we undertook to mitigate the Data Gateway performance issues to share with the community.
