MicroStrategy’s May release is now available!

April showers seem to bring multiple May MicroStrategy releases. It’s been about a little over a week since releasing our May security update (11.3.5.2) on May 12, 2022 — and we’re back with more.

We’re excited to announce that today we are releasing the May monthly release with an entirely new set of features to try out across our products. For this release, we focused largely on administrative workflows, propelling Workstation forward as the true powerhouse of product. There are also new enhancements for gateways and updates in security.

To leverage the following features, users will need to connect to a 11.3.5 environment or higher. With that in mind, here are some highlights from this release:

Workstation and Administration

Workstation has continued to add new features each quarter to ensure both architects and administrators have all workflows in one place. For May, we have new features relating to data security and enhanced subscription delivery:

  • Configure connection mappings for MicroStrategy users. Select to apply row level security at the data warehouse level or to direct them to separate data warehouses. Administrators can also manage connection mappings at the project level by choosing the appropriate database connection and database login for MicroStrategy users or user groups.
  • Create contacts and contact groups for efficient and streamlined subscription delivery. Leverage contact groups to deliver content to a set of contacts that require the same content subscriptions. Both use the security profile of the corresponding user accounts, seamlessly sending reports or dossiers to specific locations such as email or mobile devices.
  • Enable security access for projects in Workstation with ACLs.
  • View revamped data source options that allow administrators to delete data sources from Workstation. This is a small but noteworthy change.

For our Python users, leverage a few snippets of code to:

  • Easily create new or edit existing facts with Python for efficient schema operations. Use the new module to manage fact expressions or delete facts that are no longer needed.

Data Gateways

We’re committed to our investment in providing top security and performance related to gateways. In this release, we have OOTB Driver updates for the following:

  • Oracle ODBC Driver
  • Sybase ASE ODBC Driver
  • Drill ODBC Driver

We’ve also provided a more seamless experience with the following functionality enhancements:

  • From Workstation, note added support for Kerberos and LDAP authentication modes in Modern Data Source Management.
  • TLS support for ODBC connectivity in Modern Data Source Management.

Security

Security is top of mind here at MicroStrategy and the teams continuously work to deliver the most secure and stable platform for our customers. With a continued focus on the security mission, the May release introduces the ability for users to:

  • Configure secure cookie settings through GUI. With this simple ability to configure settings, organizations can more readily mitigate the risk of information leakage or other attacks.
  • This release will also have all security updates included in 11.3.5.2 (early May release).

Teams across the board have also continued to work on the first version of our MicroStrategy Cloud for Government release, our FedRAMP authorized platform, set to debut early in the second half of 2022. Stay on the lookout for updated press releases coming soon.

To get all of the new features and security with this release, you can download the latest from the MicroStrategy Resource Center to on-prem deployments, or access MicroStrategy on AWS or Azure via the MicroStrategy Cloud Console. For more information and full documentation regarding the release, visit the What’s New section of the Readme page.

In addition to downloading the latest release, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of the following applications to get all new enhancements:
