DOSSIER

Define dossier templates for faster content creation

Enable all users to more readily create new dossiers with predefined templates in Library Web and Workstation. Templates can be saved with specific layouts, datasets, and branded colors. Control access to specific templates depending on user group.

Pro tip: Templates provide a new level of self-service analytics and introduce the next generation of data-storytellers. They also provide a new level of control and consistency for users creating content across the organization.

Reuse Information Windows across dossier for improved efficiency

Information Windows provides a contextual layer of information within dossier, all while saving real estate. The same window may now be used by more than one visualization on a page.

APPLICATIONS

Configure the contents and appearance of email notifications

When users share content or collaborate with others in a Library application, email notifications are sent. These notifications can now be configured with white labeling to provide a more controlled and branded experience for groups of users or tenants, without the need to write code.

Undo action now available across Library clients

Users in Library applications may now undo actions such as filtering, sorting, excluding, or drilling in all Library clients, including Library Mobile iOS. This also provides more seamless navigation from page to page when viewing content in the app.

REPORTS: NOW LIVE

Traditional Reports are now available to view and edit

Users can view reports alongside dossiers in their personalized application. With edit access, users can also directly edit and save changes for reports. The Reports editor includes the full-fledged report filter editor, view filter editor, SQL view, page-by options, and advanced properties.

Leverage the Freeform SQL Report Editor in Workstation

Freeform SQL reports are based on MicroStrategy’s powerful SQL engine. These reports allow users to type in their own SQL statements to select and filter their data — especially useful for additional control over queries in specific data architectures. All with an easy-to-use interface.

AUGMENTED ANALYTICS

MicroStrategy Insights now available to ALL users on cloud

Get the latest in product innovation. As noted, the Insights feature accelerates decision-making and uncovers data patterns with automated alerting in Library applications. The alerts are based on machine learning (ML) models working behind the scenes to proactively detect data trends, outliers, and anomalies — equipping users with the timely insights to drive action.

WORKSTATION

Monitor dossier, document, and report caches

Using the cache monitor, administrators can monitor the content caches created in the system to load, unload, and delete the caches from the server memory. View the content caches consumption by object type and project. This allows admins to configure the memory usage and governance on the projects.

Seamlessly duplicate a user profile

Administrators can now duplicate a user profile. This duplicate action will copy the groups, privileges, and security roles of the original user for a more efficient user creation process.

Fun fact: This feature was one of the top requested features of the year.

Manage with the Quick Search Indices monitor

From Workstation, manage the search index directory and rebuild search indices with the Quick Search Indices monitor. Note that search indices are important as every new object in the project will create an index in the server that allows the users to search their objects.

Configure object translations for global users

Administrators can choose to configure object translations based on a user’s locale or other language preference settings. If selecting the user’s locale, object translations will update automatically.

Delete projects to maintain the environment’s security and scalability

From Workstation, administrators can now delete any unloaded projects at any time.

Pro tip: Aside from deleting projects for security and scalability purposes, administrators should review and ensure there are no active user connections or database connections to deleted projects.

CLOUD

MicroStrategy Cloud for Government gets OFFICIAL stamp of approval

The new cloud offering designed specifically for federal agencies is a GO! That’s right, we’re officially FedRAMP authorized. This managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provides all the platform features we love while meeting the sophisticated security and data privacy requirements of the public sector. The authorization was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

PRODUCT SNEAKS — COMING SOON

What’s happening behind the scenes in our Product Lab?

Applications Preview — Define Specific Authentication Modes

We’re keeping that data locked down. Applications can now be configured with default authentication modes. This is a powerful addition to application design given the URL entry points provided for the different experiences of Library. This new feature enables different groups, tenants, or even entire departments, to have unique login experiences all within the same environment.

Workstation Preview — Monitor History List Messages

View and manage history list messages created with history list subscriptions under History monitor. Administrators can manage the history messages for all the users in the environment and users themselves can view and manage the history list messages created for them.

Platform Analytics Preview — Discover how users interact with dossiers

Platform Analytics is a total superpower. We’re working to provide new insights into user interactivity in each dossier, including pages visited, drilling patterns, filtering, sorting, or top visualizations. Application architects and developers alike can leverage these metrics, as well as overall time that content is being viewed, to advance design and improve adoption rates.

Platform Analytics Preview — Monitor E2E platform performance

In addition to viewing patterns in analytics apps, Platform Analytics also provides a snapshot into overall job performance metrics — for example, client rendering time. This provides administrators full transparency and visibility into the end user experience. This feature will also outline the breakdown of devices and browsers for general auditing purposes.

We’re redefining analytics experiences and what it means to be data-driven. And we’re focused on technological advancements that democratize data for all.
