Native connector to Starburst Enterprise powers a single abstracted data layer that delivers security, simplicity, and scalability for enterprise-grade analytics

As part of our 11.3.7 Update, we released a new gateway distributed SQL engine for Starburst Enterprise. Sharing a platform agnostic vision, Starburst and MicroStrategy together will help customers accelerate their data mesh journey by delivering enterprise-grade analytics experiences directly on top of the popular open source project and premier distributed SQL query engine for data mesh, Trino.

Since its inception in 2017, Starburst has been committed to, and a proud advocate for, the continued development and growth of Trino. The company’s Enterprise offering is a fully supported, production-tested and enterprise-grade distribution of the popular open source project. By enabling customers to easily implement Trino, Starburst creates a common data consumption layer that combines on-demand compute with auto-scaling and fine-grained security access control, improving performance and security while making it easy to deploy, connect, and manage a Trino environment.

By connecting MicroStrategy to Starburst Enterprise, customers can now power an intelligent experience for every user on top of a single abstracted data layer that delivers security, simplicity, and scalability for enterprise analytics. Starburst’s multitude of connectors provide access to over 50+ enterprise data sources, ranging from data lakes and warehouses to streaming systems, relational database systems, and more, expanding MicroStrategy’s already extensive catalog and opening opportunities for joint customers to make strides on their distributed data mesh strategy.

“MicroStrategy’s semantic graph in conjunction with Starburst’s distributed SQL engine will allow our customers to have enterprise-grade analytics that provide a single version of the truth with unified data governance, while at the same time enable teams to manage their own data independently of where this data lives with minimal data transfer” said Mohamed Diakite Pineda, Product Manager, Principal. “With this integration, Starburst provides the faster query performance required to minimize data movement and ETL processes, accelerate time to insight for better business decisions, and reduce costs for our customers as they shift towards a federated data mesh strategy.”

“We’re excited to be launching a native integration with MicroStrategy as they remain one of the key players in the Business Intelligence space” said Toni Adams, VP of Partners and Alliances at Starburst. “With our overlapping visions supporting this integration, we will be able to meet the needs of joint customers who rely on MicroStrategy to visualize their data and embed actionable insights where their users need them the most.”
