Well, I know. I disappeared for two months. Quite a lot is happening in my life. I’ll just say I’m trying to tidy it up a bit and make it a bit more productive. I hope to be a lot more organised in the new year (that’s definitely my goal), but in the meantime, I’d like to share a last Tolkien roundup for this year, just to wish you a Happy Christmas, Fantastic New Year and a very fulfilling Tolkien Year!

Have you read Tolkien’s Letters?
That’s what I’m reading with my Tolkien reading Group, The Fellowship of Tolkien. I have to admit that the schedule has been disrupted greatly, especially in the last couple of months, and we are further back than we thought we would be at the end of the year, but I’m loving what I’ve read so far. The letters are so different from anything I read by Tolkien. They are so personal (well, many of them) and insightful, even with regard to Tolkien’s life, which is a kind of treat. So many little details, many of which I didn’t expect. For example, I was surprised by the financial difficulties Tolkien seems to have quite frequently. I was also…
