Candidate: Hillary Clinton, Hillary for Iowa

Past Campaigns: Gary Hart- after the Caucus, ’88 Gary Hart until he dropped out. Clinton Campaign in the general election. ’96 Clinton/Gore again. Gore in 2000. 2008- caucus volunteer for Hillary. Hatch, Chet, Braley in non-presidential years. (this is not an exhaustive list)

1. Why do you volunteer for this candidate?

Hillary always looks at where our country is now in terms of leadership and where we’re going to be. Hillary is the only person who comes close to what we need. We’re coming to a convergence of so many important issues at the same time. Hillary understands the depth and breath of certain issues.

She really believes the slogan “I’m fighting for her because she’s fighting for me” She fights for things that Julie cares about. She wants someone who will fight for everyone. Hillary meets all of the things on Julie’s list that need to be dealt with.

2. What issues are most important to you during this campaign cycle?

Issues she cares about: Climate change, anything related to women’s equality and reproductive health needs for women.

More of a leadership person than issue person. Looking for leadership experience in a candidate. The presidency is a “full contact sport”. We need someone who is jazzed about the presidency.

3. What has been your favorite campaign memory so far?

Katy Perry preforming for Hillary. Julie has been at a lot of JJ’s where celebrities have sat through the dinner. Katy was there for the whole dinner and Julie has never witnessed that before, and her dress. Katy said that Hillary is her firework.
