Countdown to 2025, the First Year of Generation Beta
A record-breaking number of generations celebrating together
As a grant writer, I am addicted to statistics. The demographic that has my head spinning right now is that as 2024 concludes we have come to the finish line for Generation Alpha (2010–2024). According to Worldmeter, there were over 131,000,000 Gen Alpha births in 2024.
So what will the name of the next generation be? You guessed it: the newest generation will follow the Greek alphabet letter after Alpha.

We are nearing the 8,200,000,000-population mark for our species, Homo sapiens sapiens. By the time this article is finished, six thousand births will take place all over the planet.
This is all new to us on Earth. Eight generations living together is a unique event in our long evolutionary lineage, which began 200,000–300,000 years ago.
