Hopes for Motherhood

I found some thoughts I wrote down years ago, when my now 15 and 12-year-olds were only 2 and 4. It was what I hoped to be as a mother.

It was fascinating to look back then and compare it to now. Back then, I was still so new to motherhood, trying to find my footing. I’m more seasoned now, more experienced, as my girls are closer to leaving the nest than staying.

And yet, even with the years of mothering I’ve had between then and now, so many of my hopes still ring true.

What 2013 me hoped for in motherhood:

I hope to improve as a mother every single day. I hope each day is better than the last.

I hope to find a balance between giving you all my all and not losing who I am myself.

I want to feed you good, healthy meals with the occasional treat.

I want to encourage you to follow your dreams, whatever they may be.

I want you to want or need for nothing.

I want to listen to every word you girls say, even when you are babbling on incessantly for hours.
