Not a Typical Woman Of Her Age

Yes, that’s right, another article by a Gen X menopausal woman wondering about her symptoms. There have been a lot of us lately letting the world know this whole next phase of life thing is not always fine. It can really suck. In fact, it contributes to many women’s mental health issues, whether they had any to begin with, or it simply has us more weepy, full of rage, or just unmotivated. Well, I’m not exactly a typical Gen X menopausal woman.

I don’t have a long-term career; I’m not approaching the pinnacle of the business that I built. I was always a jill of all trades and master of none employee, even with a college degree. I have just discovered I’m neurodivergent, like my son, which lends both relief and reexamination of my past life choices.

I’m not in a comfortable middle or upper financial class (more like treading water low to middle class). I’m a single Mom who has avoided relationships purposely since 2019 to work through some things and focus on my mental health.
