“If now, then when?” has been my motto since my best friend, Gina, died a couple of years ago from Pancreatic Cancer. We had always wanted to travel together since both of our spouses were always busy. The Venice Biennale 2022 was at the top of our list. Sadly, we never made it together.

So, carrying Gina in my memories, and because my husband is always busy with work, I ventured off on an “if not now, when” solo trip to the 2024 Venice Biennale, which is the Grand Prix of the art world and one of the most prestigious events in our modern world of aesthetics.

Every two years, this international art festival, hosted in Venice, Italy, showcases a diverse assortment of exhibitions in the Giardini and Arsenale, where many countries, such as Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Nigeria, have national pavilions.

Other sanctioned exhibitions, known as Collateral Events, are also scattered throughout the city, and it is a delightful romp on water buses to discover them — even when it is raining.
