Obesity Masked My Menopause

But not everything is about obesity.

Menopause? Who? Me? I’m not that old yet, but I am.

I have always had an irregular period. I turned 56 years old this year, and I have not had a period for about five years. It never occurred to me that this could be due to menopause and not my weight.

I had no idea that I might have already gone through menopause until I started Googling it after the subject came up with another writer.

Menopausal symptoms are varied and aren’t well-studied. There is no way to accurately track how many of us might be suffering from symptoms that are effectively masked by other health issues.

My symptoms are all mixed up with stuff I have been dealing with for years that mimic some of those indicators outlined in the various articles: irregular periods, sleeping problems, mood changes, weight gain, and slow metabolism.

Obesity affects the menstrual cycle for a lot of females.
