Life Changes Without Notice

We all know life can change at a moment’s notice.

This isn’t new information. But when it does, it always comes as a shock and there is a period of mourning the way things were before whatever the change was that came. Life has a way of hitting us smack in the face and reminding us not to take any of it for granted.

Since the beginning of the year, my aunt fell twice and has since been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. She lived with my uncle in Virginia, but he’s not well either. He’s diabetic and has lost one foot to amputation and needs to have the other one amputated as well. He’s got a sore on his leg that won’t heal, and they can’t do the surgery until this sore heals. So, he’s in a rehab facility there and holding out hope that he’ll be walking out of there and returning to their home.

My aunt, on the other hand, is in Ohio.

Upon her second fall, my cousin went to Virginia, gathered her and her belongings, and brought her to Ohio so he and his brother could help her. She is now in a rehab facility and hoping to be moved to assisted living.

I think of my aunt, in less than two months having to leave her home that she loves with all her things, her stuff, her husband. And now she’s in a…
