One woman’s wax awakening-almost
I am an older Black woman who has been married for many decades. To some younger women, that means I might have answers when others do not. They will ask me anything, and I do mean anything.
I am sitting in my lanai, drinking and petting my cat, when I get a call from a newish friend, Amanda*. We have been friends for five years. She divorced two years ago after fifteen years of marriage. She has finally started dating again. Amanda is fifteen years younger than me.
Getting her ready for dating will be a challenge. Being off the market for an extended period means a person needs to prepare to jump back into the fray. Add to that the fact that she is a natural introvert, and you can see that the task will not be easy.
What does dating-ready mean? It means she presents her best self on a first date, even if that date is just a sexual hookup. What? You’re shocked an older woman would take advantage of our current culture.
It’s fine to meet someone and have sex, then never see them again. Shocked, don’t be; it happens every day. Consenting adults do what they want. People of all ages are enjoying the looser digital dating culture of 2025.
