She feels the weight of the world on her shoulders. She looks inward at goals and dreams unfulfilled and blames her propensity for brooding. Laughter with friends used to warm her heart and brighten her mood. The world has stopped for now and so have her cherished gatherings. She’s vulnerable to cloudy skies over her mind’s landscape.

Shadows roam freely and descend upon her desk. They cloak her plans in regret for not doing more before the world shuts down. The virus is blowing normalcy apart. She just had a 50-something birthday in this springtime of pandemic-death. She’s embracing life’s changes as she tries to feel good about graying streaks through her ample dark locks.

She doesn’t see wealth in this kind of silver.

This crisis-filled moment grips her chaotic world in a chokehold of fear. Her hectic day-to-day routine has stopped in its tracks. Suddenly, she has more time to care for her elderly parents and to nurture her adult son with autism. Her home and heart house all that she needs to honor what is dear.

The world’s silence allows a pause for Nature to spring to life despite all that’s dying. It breathes a little easier now, a sigh of relief from choking on fumes we emit in our…
