“A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.” — Marion C. Garretty

I got to spend some quality time with my little sister the other day.

She came to my house with a tiny cherry pie.
We ate our first dessert of the day.

On our agenda, was missing our parents and we did so with grace. We walked, talked, and picked berries.

We ate an eloquent meal of salmon, green beans, and baked potato.
We used china plates my father had purchased with a linen tablecloth
last ironed by our mother’s hand.

My grandchildren and their parents came to visit their favorite great Aunt. We talked and laughed and ate dessert again.

Smiles and waves goodbye.
They all went back home.

My sister and I watched Alfred Hitchcock in our pajamas and drank wine my husband had crafted.

We made some plans.
Oh, we made plans!
Hotels and traveling and dining out !

Missing our parents would be on the agenda.
We went to bed early, so much excitement for one day!

“Sisters function as safety nets in a chaotic world simply by being there for each other.” — Carol Saline

We woke up early.
Coffee and dog walks and breakfast.

A nearby lavender festival called our names.
We answered the call in style.

Lavender ice cream?
Why yes!

Our arms full of lavender we finally hugged farewell.

“I love you!”
“ I love you too!”
“Good bye!”

So grateful to have a sister just like her.

“When our hair is white, we’ll still have our sister love.” — Lisa See
