My personal journey to accept myself.

“Cindy, let me tell you what the men at the coffee shop said this morning when we were drinking coffee and talking about the weather,” my son-in-law said, pushing his hat back on his sweaty head.

It was only nine in the morning, but it was hotter than my pepper patch.

“Old Danny Atkins finally got up the nerve to say, ‘Aren’t you scared of those killer dogs she has out there on the farm? And I saw her up on the roof the other morning. Screwing down the corrugated roofing!’”

“Of course, I said y’all are crazy. Those aren’t killer dogs; she raises them for police dogs. And why can’t she build her own house?”
