We Women Are Prepared
Remember the Girl Scout motto?
Were you a Girl Scout back in the day?
I was.
I even started out as a Brownie and got to fly up and be a Scout.
Which meant, at least in my family, wearing the uniforms to school. The Brownies’ were brown, the Girl Scouts’, green.
Both were the same basic design — one they called shirtwaists back in the day. Close-fitting bodice and cinched waist with an A-line skirt — -if memory serves and I have the terminology right.
What I remember about those days was working on badges, going camping overnight, and getting teased unmercifully for wearing that green dress. And it wasn’t the most flattering shade, either. And being pudgy did not help.
Oh, and I almost forgot — selling those cookies! Gauchos were my favorite. Which one was yours? Note: Nowadays they have a bazillion more types and some of the names have changed. Like Gaucho might have morphed into the Peanut Butter Sandwich.
I also remember our motto.
Like the Boy Scouts, it was: Be prepared.
Prepared for what?
