Earlier this month, I embarked on my seventh solo adventure of the year—and first to Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands. I desperately needed rejuvenation from the stresses of daily life. I craved an environment to restore my weary spirit and reignite the flames that fueled my writing.
I did not realize my trip would turn into a wild one-night stand with Ernesto.
When I planned the trip in March, I knew it would take place during hurricane season, so all I could do was say a prayer and purchase trip insurance in case of hindrances, hiccups, and hijackings to my trip.
As fate designed, I met Tropical Storm Ernesto in all his fierceness, bravado, and glory. But before meeting him, I had a dalliance with Brown Booby.
Knowing and anticipating
The week before my flight to Saint Thomas, I knew Ernesto was also heading my way. Whenever I checked the news and weather updates, there were reports of an increasing chance of clouds and rain.
