What Role Does Spirituality Play in Your Life? Or Does It?
Whatever that means to you.
No wonder I came up with this topic. It’s Easter.
It’s also the last day of the Jewish Passover, and the festival of Ridvan is about to begin. Ridván is a 12-day Baháʼí festival commemorating the declaration of Baháʼu’lláh as a Manifestation of God.
But as we like to say in twelve-step recovery, you don’t have to join a specific religion to be spiritual. Many of us believe that our spirituality is just as vital a part of ourselves as our physicality, mentality, or emotions.
But what does that even mean?
We talk about having an animated spirit — a core aspect of our being that expresses our unique us-ness. What makes me, me, and you, you. Our essence if you will.
But for many of us, it involves a sense of connection to something larger and/or greater than ourselves. This can include a belief in some kind of higher power, deep reflections of inner peace, or feelings of connection with others and/or Nature. For some, spirituality involves a search for meaning and a sense of purpose beyond everyday matters. Others and I’m among them, express my spirituality through my creativity — though that’s not…
