You and Your Body: Partners for Life
So what’s that relationship like?
Like it or not, know it or not, you have a lifelong partner.
We all do.
Guess who?
Our bodies.
What kind of reaction does that word evoke in you?
Excitement and enthusiasm? Disgust and disdain? Somewhere in the middle?
I’m asking because that’s this week’s Middle-Pause Pump-Priming Prompt: What is your relationship with your body like? Has it always been that way, or has it evolved over the years? Do you treat your body the way you’d treat a close friend or lover?
I’ll go first and get the body-bashing started.
Just kidding, even though that’s not really funny. But I will go first.
I could say I have a love-hate relationship with my body. But while it captures the mix of feelings, it’s not altogether accurate.
It’d be more spot-on to say, it’s complicated.
I don’t hate my body.
But I don’t treat her nearly as well as I could and probably should. Yes, I do appreciate how much she does for me, taking me everywhere I go, getting up…
