I could tell you that I’ve dreamed of having a tree right outside my window, but that’s a lie. The tree that graces my presence now — super grateful for. Not just a little gratitude, but an ocean of gratefulness.

It makes me feel like I live in a treehouse because its height is taller than my floor-to-ceiling window and its branches wave at the wisp of a breeze. It must be breezy all the time because it is always waving at me.

For someone who needs nature surrounding her, but is also able to live close to a major city, it can be tricky. When we lived in downtown Los Angeles, it was like living in a cement jungle. The parking structure that we looked at every day only provided entertainment because people would drive up to the garage's top level for photoshoots, to do illegal things, and skateboarding.

The sad part of that is one day I woke up to a message on the Nextdoor app from someone asking why there was a dead person lying on the ground outside the parking structure? Yes, they jumped.

So, yes, I celebrate the tree outside my window now. My husband and I have named her Treeana. She is a lovely bit of shade from the sun but not so much that she creates…
