Have you ever received spam calls like this one I got just the other day:

Hi. This is Karen Williams at 888–804–1384. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the employee retention credit under the CARES act, but I see you’re prequalified for up to $26,000 per employee with no repayment necessary due to the pandemic. If you have about 5 minutes for me, give me a call back and I’ll be happy to go over the details. Have a great day.

Aw, such a sweetheart. Not only was Karen considerate enough to initiate calling me to let me know about all the free money I’m qualified for — she was even kind enough to wish me a great day.

I would have called her right back if I actually owned a business — not to mention I’ve been retired for the past several years.

I suppose Karen might have accidentally dialled a wrong number (insert deep sarcasm emoji here)

In all seriousness, I have absolutely no idea how Karen Williams (or whatever the hell her real name is) can sleep at night knowing her sole job duty is to hunt down and rip off people desperate and gullible enough to believe utter nonsense.
