It doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long you don’t stop

Set yourself up to succeed not fail.

When we have tasks to do, whether it’s an assignment, content creation, writing a book, or you’ve got a To-Do list a mile long; becoming overwhelmed can lead you to hitting that wall & being unable to see a way forward at all.

Learning to take your time, step by step; not overloading or overwhelming yourself in the process, you can keep the momentum going & avoid becoming stressed or burnt out.

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Martin Luther King Jr.

If you’ve hit a block the important thing to do is to not panic but give yourself the space to think about what’s going on. Think about what you can do right now with the resources that you have right now.

Step back from looking at the enormity of the task & break it down into steps that you know you can achieve. This way, you set yourself up to succeed each day, which will increase your confidence & help bring that focus.

It may also be worth taking a moment to think about whether there’s something you’re worried about that could be stopping you from sitting down & tackling your work.

What fears could be getting in the way?

  • People won’t like it
  • It won’t be good enough
  • Who am I to think I can do this?
  • What if nobody will be interested?
  • What if I get it wrong?
  • There’s too much to do — I’m going to fail.

There have been too many times when I have tried to keep everything going & I’ve just ended up exhausted, stressed & unable to think clearly. Each time I have stopped to take a breath & focus on what I can do, I’ve been able to take those smaller steps & get the momentum going once again.

Key Message: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a step back & focus on what you can do. Each step will take you closer, no matter how small it is.

Thanks for reading, please let me know in the comments how you prevent becoming overwhelmed & what you do to keep moving forwards.
