Loved And Lost Are Better Than Never Having Loved.
Our memories of our love could be erased by Alzheimer’s.
Who doesn’t love a story about love conquering all? This is the story of one such love.
This is the love that I felt compelled to share, especially with those who may not believe in love. Or for those who are waiting for their love story to begin.
The Memory of Ruth
Ruth was a 100-year-old lady whom I had the pleasure of meeting. She was tiny and frail, with thin, wispy gray hair and very dark eyes. Even at her age, she was still beautiful.
She was an amazing person with so much wisdom to share, and I feel lucky to have known her.
Ruth told me about the love of her life, John. They met when they were just teenagers and fell head-over-heels in love. They married young and had a beautiful life together for 70 years.
Though she can no longer remember what she ate yesterday or the name of the man who sat across from her at dinner last night, she can still vividly remember the love of her life.
She remembers the way his eyes would light up when he saw her and the way his hand felt in hers. She remembers how happy she was with him and how nothing else seemed to matter.
