My Uncle was a cowboy, he liked to have some fun & let go

But he had a crooked finger that was shaped like a hook

Dances in town at night, pretty girls galore, they’d do the Dosey Doe

My Uncle was a cowboy, he liked to have some fun & let go

The damned old crooked finger got entangled in the lady’s strap, oh no!

She darned near knocked the slobbers out of him, over that wicked crook

My Uncle was a cowboy, he liked to have some fun & let go

But he had a crooked finger that was shaped like a hook

My uncle actually did have a crooked finger and one night at a dance, he accidentally got it entangled in a woman’s dress strap as they were twirling along. He literally couldn’t let go. She thought he was “being fresh” and all hell broke loose!

I don’t believe the lady ever allowed him to explain. She was too convinced otherwise.

Of course, everyone who knew my uncle was rolling with laughter. They never let him forget about that dance.

Jody Wright’s Mom & Dad at the dance.

Key Message: Sometimes when you need to let go but can’t . . . it’s not your fault.
