On our way back from the US Virgin Islands in early 2023, my husband and I each applied for the airline’s credit cards. There was a bonus of 60,000 miles that, we were told, would pay for a round-trip ticket anywhere in the US.

We knew we’d be traveling more, so we thought the cards would be a good idea. And, it’s turned out to be so. Since then, we have had two round-trip tickets paid for with our airline points to both Santa Fe, New Mexico and, Dublin, Ireland! The extra savings from having the loyalty credit cards to the airline definitely paid off.

In addition, when we were in Europe last fall, on a Viking River Cruise, we used the card for our purchases without any foreign transaction fees. Since we knew we could do it without paying the fees, we used the card again — more liberally — on our recent trip to Ireland.

And now, we are accumulating points towards future trips. My husband uses his airline card for almost all of his purchases, accumulating points much faster than me. I am slowly converting many of my…
