Isn’t it frustrating to end the week feeling as if you have accomplished nothing even though you’re exhausted? How long has it been since you were able to catch up with everything? Do you find yourself spinning around like a toddler on a sugar high because you can’t decide what to do first, next, or not at all?

If you feel like this, maybe it’s time for a reset. Here are 3 tools that I have used for my entire career as a writer, editor, and consultant. They always help me get out from overwhelm, manage conflicting demands on my time, and meet looming deadlines with minimal stress. You can quickly and easily adapt them to your work and work style.

Tool 1: Just stop and do nothing

It seems counterintuitive to just do nothing when you feel overwhelmed by everything that needs doing. But the longer you spin your wheels, you can dig a rut so deep that you can’t get out. The solution is to just stop and reconnoiter. This is my immediate go-to when the feeling of overwhelm crashes down on me.
