Have you ever taken the chance to date yourself?

Okay, it must seem silly but keep reading.

In this world full of distractions, having some time to enjoy ourselves can be a luxury. Nevertheless, dating yourself can unlock your full potential as a writer and solopreneur.

I’ve dated myself since 2017, and this habit changed my life. You can read about my self-dating journey here.

So, if you’re still with me, grab your favorite mug. You’re about to find out how self-dating can make a huge impact in your career.

Dating yourself allows you to change your routine.

Hit a creativity wall lately? Changing the scenery can be what you need to make your ideas flow again. Experiment walking in the park or going to a new restaurant. Your creativity will come back like an ex who’s not over you.

You learn that solitude can be your best friend

Most people freak out when they hear the word solitude. The image that comes to their minds is something like a lonely and depressed person sitting on a dark room’s floor.

This couldn’t be far from the truth. People need to start seeing solitude not as an enemy, but a secret weapon.

Enjoying your company can not only allow you to learn more about yourself, but fill you with great ideas for your life and business.

If you don’t know how to solve an issue, go explore the woods. Clarity will find you in the silence.

You connect with who you are

Let me ask a question: do you know who you are underneath the roles you play in society?

If your answer is no, don’t worry. Most people would give the same answer.

That’s why dating yourself is important. It gives you the time to reflect and explore who you truly are when nobody’s looking.

You explore your passions

What’s the last time you did something that set your soul on fire?

When you’re busy with your daily chores, taking a moment to just do what you love seems impossible. Nevertheless, it can enhance your appreciation for what you already enjoy or uncover new passions.

Self-dating can awaken your desire to write a novel or start a new business. Why don’t give it a chance?

You cultivate the habit of taking care of yourself

Here is the truth: if you’re not feeling good about yourself, you can’t give your best to your writing and business.

Self-care is not the same as being selfish. It’s essential for your well-being. It reminds you that you matter as much as the people you love.

You learn to be resilient

The only thing who can help you to go through life’s ups and downs is resilience.

Dating yourself teaches you that you need to be your own safe harbor. No need to wait for a savior when you can rescue yourself.

Conclusion

Dating yourself brings lots of benefits that can improve your life, your craft and business.

It is a letter of love to yourself. A reminder that you deserve your own time and attention.

Time to go out there and write your story, one solo date at a time!

Key message: Date yourself to boost your creativity and have more clarity about your craft and career.
