Cyclone Alfred
My fickle friend
Cyclone Alfred came to town
And had a look around
He travelled slow and took his time
When he moved over ground.
At first it seemed he posed no threat
Light breeze and a few spits,
But that was calm before the storm,
He’d soon unleash big hits.
The Weather Bureau copped some flack
“Your warnings were too dire!
You told us to evacuate,
And move to ground that’s higher.”
But some it seems always complain,
With them you never win.
If no notice had been given,
They’d have to learn to swim.
Not as intense as some typhoons,
But skies are clouded grey.
The rain is causing flooding,
And his welcome’s overstayed.
The Gold Coast and Brisbane flooded,
And north at Hervey Bay.
He showed his hand by taking life,
One man was swept away.
