Where do lost clowns go?

The world’s best circus was in town,
But the circus folk were feeling down.
The Ringmaster said with a frown,
“Where oh where can be the clown?”

“We need a clown to make us laugh,
Perhaps he’s feeding the giraffe.”
The strongman looked, magician too,
But he wasn’t at the circus zoo.

“Let’s ask the juggler if he knows
For juggling tricks, the clown he shows.”
But he said, “He hasn’t been around.”
Oh where oh where can be the clown?

They went to ask the tightrope walker,
But he said, “I am no clown stalker.
I haven’t seen him anyway,
Perhaps the clown just ran away.”

They asked the girl on the trapeze,
But she said, “Let me practice, please.
Maybe he’s sick and lying down.”
Where oh where can be the clown?
