The Top Four
Atlanta FaZe (2.80), Dallas Empire (3.35), Chicago Huntsmen (6.80) and Florida Mutineers (6.60) have been at the forefront of the Call of Duty League all season. While Dallas Empire and Florida Mutineers lead the charge with three Home Series wins this year, both Atlanta FaZe and Chicago Huntsmen aren’t far behind with two each themselves. Atlanta FaZe are the favourites, and rightly so. In a recent interview, Preston “Priestahh” Greiner said how the pressure of being favourites doesn’t get to him anymore, and how the Atlanta FaZe are more than ready to win the inaugural CDL Championships. These are some strong words from such a young player, however with two reigning champions on their team in Chris “Simp” Lehr and Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris, they are a solid bet to win champs.
However, Chicago Huntsmen also have two of last year’s world champions in Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson and Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson. Along with the twins, they have T2P. One of the greatest Call of Duty duos in Seth “Scump” Abner and Matthew “Formal” Piper. If you’ve been watching professional Call of Duty for a while, you know that Formal turns into a different beast on a Championship weekend, and with more money than ever on the line. 7.00 odds for Chicago Huntsmen don’t look too bad to me.
The Underdogs
There are plenty of underdog picks to choose from at the inaugural Call of Duty League Playoffs. However, I think that OpTic Gaming Los Angeles (22.00) are the best high risk high odds pick. Starting in the losers bracket, OGLA have to go on a flawless run. They cannot afford to lose a single series otherwise they are out of the tournament, but if there’s any team which can do it, it’s OpTic Gaming. This team has three experienced competitors in Austin “Slasher” Liddicoat, Kenny “Kuavo” Williams and Thomas “TJHaly” Haly who all know how it feels to win and they will all be competing at their highest standard towards the end of the year. Along with them, they have two newcomers to the CDL in Zach “Drazah” Jordan and Darien “Hollow” Chverchko, these players will be hungry to show that they are up to standard and can win a Call of Duty League championship. So if you’re looking for a high odds pick, OGLA are your team to support.
The Call of Duty League 2020 playoffs begin on Wednesday 19th August and will run until Sunday 24th. The Championship Weekend will then cover the 29th and 30th of August where one team will walk home with $1.5 million and be crowned Call of Duty League Champions.
