This week we virtually fly over to New York for the 11th Home Series of the season. With some big CDL points to play for and a group B of death, this is shaping up to be an exciting weekend.

Call of Duty League — New York Outrights

Let’s take a look at one of the major talking points going into this weekend, and finally our prediction.

The New Meta

In the latest update for Modern Warfare there was a nerf to the MP5, something that many fans had been asking for at almost any chance they got. Being the SMG weapon of choice for players since the start of the season, this threw many new weapons into the mix.

The MP7, AUG and Uzi were all tried out during scrims with many players deciding the AUG was the next best choice… before it was GA’d yesterday. With fans and players alike unsure of the meta for this event, we could see some weird and wonderful setups revealed from the pros.

Most notably, the M4 seems to have risen in popularity in scrims. Everyone already knew the M4 was a ‘god gun’, however the MP5 nerf has made this even more apparent. With some pros saying that the subs cant compete with it anymore. This could lead to a 2 or even 3 AR setup from some teams. Rosters such as The London Royal Ravens who are very AR heavy could benefit from this change, and be a dark horse this weekend.

No matter what setup is used by teams this event, it’ll be one which takes some time to get used to and there is definitely potential for some upsets.

Prediction

This weekend is one of the hardest to predict so far. The absence of the Florida Mutineers makes Atlanta FaZe and Chicago Huntsmen the clear favourites for the weekend. However, the new GA’s and changes in gun play will affect each team differently.

Group A consists of FaZe, Guerrillas, Ultra and Legion, while Group B houses the Huntsmen, Royal Ravens, Subliners and Rokkr.

My money’s on FaZe. Coming back from that embarrassing defeat to Florida, they’ll want to prove a point. Atlanta FaZe have proved time and time again that they are an extremely resilient team, and while they go to many game fives they usually win them. Also, this is our prime opportunity to see FaZe vs Huntsmen in the Semi-Final or Finals.

So, who wins the event? FaZe. It has to be Atlanta FaZe. At 2.75 to win, they may be favourites and that is for a clear reason. However, that’s an absolute steal for a team like FaZe who have proved they can win against the best teams in the game.
