With a lumen output of 1,380 lm at 4000K and a light colour range of 2000–6500K, the Twilight offers impressive brightness and colour versatility. Its 13.4W LED is rated for up to 25,000 hours of use, ensuring longevity.
The Twilight boasts several key features. Its one-touch sleep automation gradually dims bedroom lights, while seamless system integration allows control of all smart lights in the home. Users can control the lamp via the Philips Hue app, voice commands, smart switches, or iOS widgets.
Philips Hue’s new ColorCast technology claims to project colours more effectively than other gradient lights. The lamp’s dual light source design includes a swiveling front light for reading and a back light for ambient colour gradients. Ultra-low dimming capabilities enable gentle wake-ups and subtle night lighting.
Six pre-set, nature-inspired lighting scenes support the circadian rhythm, ranging from a red-toned “Sleepy” to a brighter “Arise” setting. The lamp’s compact design ensures it won’t dominate nightstands.
Priced at £249.99, the Twilight is expensive even within the premium Philips Hue ecosystem. More affordable alternatives include the Philips Hue Bloom (£80), Go Portable Accent Light (£80), Iris Table Lamp (£95), Go Portable Table Lamps (£140), and Signe Gradient Table Lamp (£190).
Despite its high price, the Twilight offers superior functionality compared to using a standard Philips Hue bulb in a conventional lamp. Its high lumen output can illuminate a room effectively, while also capable of very low brightness for nightlight use. The dual light design and ColorCast technology produce attractive light scenes, with lights angled to avoid direct glare.
The inclusion of dual control buttons eliminates the need for a separate Hue wireless switch, adding convenience.
While the Twilight’s price may be hard to justify for some, especially considering more affordable options like the Go Table Lamp, it offers significant benefits for those prioritizing sleep quality and willing to invest in their sleep environment. For users already invested in the Hue ecosystem and seeking a comprehensive sleep and wake-up light solution, the Philips Hue Twilight presents a compelling, albeit premium, option.
