Art lover cities

Great art comes from great inspiration. What better way to get inspired than by traveling to the art capitals of the world, and exploring its museums, art galleries, and street art. We’ve put together a list of five of the world’s greatest cities for art. These cities have inspired artists for centuries. And it is in these cities that iconic masterpieces were born and creative experimentation is actively taking place even today. So, soak in some art and culture and find inspiration in these five cities.

Paris

Paris

This list would not be complete without Paris. With over 130 museums within its city limits, Paris is the epicenter of art and culture. For an art lover, this city is a muse. Obviously, art exploration in Paris begins at the Louvre followed by museums like Centre Pompidou, Musee d’Orsay, Musee de L’Orangerie, Musee Cernuschi, and Musee National Picasso. When you’ve explored all these museums, take a street art tour of Paris.

Florence

Florence

Art is not just found in museums and palaces in Florence but it’s all over the city. In fact, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Florence itself is a piece of art. Florence is undoubtedly the best place to explore Renaissance art. At Galleria delgi Uffizi, marvel at the magnificent Medici collection and artworks by master artists like da Vinci, Botticelli, Giotto and many more. Other museums that you cannot miss are Bargello Museum, Palazzo Pitti, Accademia Gallery, and Museo di San Marco.

New York City

New York City

While no city can match up to Paris when it comes to art, New York City’s art scene can give Paris a tough competition. The Big Apple is scattered with hundreds of art galleries and museums. The city is also home to the fantastic Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, the Frick Collection, Rubin Museum, and Guggenhein Museum. If all these museums and art galleries seem overwhelming to visit by yourself, hop on a guided art tour of New York City that’ll take you across the city’s art museums and galleries.

London

London

London offers a smorgasbord of art and culture to passionate art lovers. It doesn’t matter what kind of art you love, from Classical to Modern to Street art, London has it all. While masterpieces by van Gogh and Constable at the National Gallery will leave you speechless, Tate Modern’s stunning collection of Picasso, Hockney, and Warhol will further blow your imagination. For a glimpse of the world’s best contemporary art, head to the ‘infamous’ Saatchi Gallery. If you’re still not satisfied, explore street art at Shoreditch and Camden. Don’t forget to look for Banksy’s famous street art scattered across the city; after all, London is his favorite canvas!

Melbourne

Melbourne

In the 1980s an art revolution started taking place in the lanes of Melbourne that soon became synonymous with the city’s identity itself. Bright colors were smeared across the walls in the city. Soon, it became a global street art movement. Today, street art has become an integral and inseparable part of Melbourne’s culture. While much of the city’s art is on the streets itself, the National Gallery of Victoria cannot be missed. It houses a massive collection of art from the across the world and indigenous and non-indigenous works from Australia.

Travel to these art capitals for an inspiring art attack.
