It Took 8+ Years for Medium to Notice My Writing
Keep going. You’re having more of an impact than you know.
This week, I experienced one of those rare moments that makes eight years of writing feel worthwhile.
I woke up, scrolled through my notifications with the usual morning fog clouding my brain, when something stopped me mid-scroll. Someone who works at Medium had mentioned me in an article. They hadn’t just mentioned me — they quoted me.
Harris Sockel mentioned me in his piece, “Charisma is just responsiveness.”
Eight years.
That’s how long I’ve been publishing on this platform. Hundreds of articles. Countless hours staring at a blinking cursor, wondering if the words I was about to type would resonate with anyone. Some pieces gained traction, spreading further than I could have imagined. Others fell flat, collecting digital dust in the far corners of the internet, making me question why I’d even hit publish.
But I kept going.
And this week, that persistence was acknowledged in the most unexpected (albeit wonderful) way. I found myself geeking out about it. You would have thought I’d won a Pulitzer from how excited I felt seeing my words reflected back at me through someone else’s appreciation.
