Why An Experience-Driven Mindset Could Be Your Best Career Move Yet

Become experience-driven

My early career struggles stemmed from a transactional mindset of: “I have skills; I need a job.” This created a mercenary dynamic where I was perpetually selling myself as a resource.

I’ve shifted over the years instead to an experience-driven mindset of: “How do I want others to experience me?” It’s changed everything in my career. I can’t recommend this enough if you’re struggling in your career too. When someone interacts with you, help them leave changed in some meaningful way.

Perhaps they:

  • Understand something complex with new clarity
  • Feel genuinely heard and respected by you
  • Discover a perspective they hadn’t considered
  • Experience a sense of calm around you
  • Find confidence to move forward on a difficult decision

This experience-driven approach fundamentally changes your professional positioning. Instead of being amongst the pile of hundreds of qualified candidates, you become memorable as someone who creates valuable experiences and leaves a sought-after, lasting impression.
