Migraines suck. 🤕
Last week, I found myself in my doctor’s office, desperately seeking help for migraines that just wouldn’t quit. I’ve suffered with them for decades without much in the way of relief, so I wasn’t exactly hopeful during this visit. I walked in, one eye squinting from the intense light sensitivity, and sat down, waiting my turn, trying not to throw up from the nausea. Apologies for the visual.
What struck me with this visit wasn’t the medical care; we take our family to this same doctor’s office regularly and they do a fine job. I expected to walk out with a prescription sent to Walgreens and a cookie-cutter chat with a doctor who had seen people like me a million times.
But on this visit, a new doctor helped me and I was amazed with how she approached the whole situation. She sat down, listened, asked great questions, and didn’t rush to write a quick prescription and usher me out as another number.
Instead, we had a real conversation.
She asked about my sleep patterns and water intake and grilled me on my diet. “Are you stressed?” she asked. “Yep,” I said. “How about exercise?” Uh, yeah…I’m not so good at…
