CUS Milano, otherwise known as Centro Universitario Sportivo, is making waves by providing a wide range of sports facilities and opportunities for students. In an interview with the CUS Milano spokesperson from the office of communication, Matteo Zavattoni, we were able to dive into the details of their offerings and their commitment to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among university students.

When asked about the types of sports facilities available at CUS Milano, Zavattoni explained, “We manage a diverse range of sports facilities to cater to various interests. These include fitness gyms, multi-purpose sports centers for basketball, football, rugby, tennis, athletics tracks, and even canoe and rowing centers.” Among the notable facilities are Palacus Idroscalo, IULM Fitness Center, XXV Aprile, and Bicocca Stadium.

Addressing inclusivity, Zavattoni stated, “CUS Milano is open to all university students in Milan, regardless of their field of study or level of expertise. We believe in providing equal opportunities for everyone to engage in sports and physical activities.”

Accessibility is a key consideration for CUS Milano. “Our sports facilities are strategically located near the respective universities. Bicocca Stadium and IULM Fitness Center are conveniently situated near metro stops, XXV Aprile is close to the M1 subway station, and Palacus is situated near Idroscalo, near Linate airport,” Zavattoni explained.

The interview also shed light on specialized facilities dedicated to specific sports and students. “For track and field enthusiasts, XXV Aprile is the go-to facility. If you’re interested in canoeing and rowing, Palacus offers excellent opportunities to pursue these sports.”

Financial aspects were not overlooked during the interview. Matteo Zavattoni clarified, “To access the student sports facilities at CUS Milano, we offer three membership packages. The Active package, priced at €5, is reserved for university students and provides access to one day promotional activities and field trips. It includes accident insurance and does not require a medical examination.”

He continued, “The Sport package, priced at €20, is exclusively for college students. It allows participation in all sports activities, including courses, tournaments, etc. However, it requires a medical certificate with an ECG or competitive certification.”

“For comprehensive access and benefits, the Full Sport package, priced at €30, is available for university students. It provides participation in all sports activities and includes a free medical examination and ECG, exclusively for CUS Milano activities.”

CUS Milano ensures that students have a comfortable and convenient experience at their sports facilities. “Our amenities vary across locations. At the IULM Fitness Center, you have the option to hire a personal trainer. Meanwhile, Palacus, Bicocca Stadium, and XXV Aprile offer courses for each sport, allowing students to enhance their skills and enjoy a well-rounded experience,” said Zavattoni.

Aspiring team players will be delighted to know that CUS Milano offers organized sports teams and clubs. “We organize the Milan University Championships for basketball, volleyball, football, and tennis. This provides an excellent platform for students to engage in competitive sports and showcase their talents,” Zavattoni revealed.

By providing accessible sports facilities and diverse programs, we aim to inspire and motivate students to prioritize their well-being,” Zavattoni stated.

CUS Milano has garnered positive feedback from students who have benefited from their sports facilities and programs. Jon W, a student at Cattolica, shared his experience, saying, “CUS Milano has been a game-changer for me. The convenience of having well-equipped sports facilities near my university has encouraged me to stay active and continue my passion for football while abroad. I highly recommend CUS Milano to all students.”

We asked Allison K, who is a student at Bocconi, what she thought of CUS and she shared, “I personally am not a member at CUS, but from what I’ve heard, it sounds like an amazing place for students to exercise.” She continued, “I have heard students and professors at Bocconi talking about it and how it is a great place to connect with students from other universities through sports.”
