Pasticceria Cova: A Taste of Italy’s Histroy

Pasticceria Cova is not only considered a historic cafe in Milan, but also in Italy as a whole; it is one of the oldest pasticcerias in Italy! Cova was founded in 1817 and has over 200 years of experience in perfecting the art of making pastries. Located at Via Monte Napoleone 8, you can get an espresso for only €5! Cova has remained a prominent pasticceria for stylish or high class crowds, even visited by Ernst Hemingway! When arriving, you’re invited in by classical Italian-style interiors and greeted at the door by one of the renowned servers — this cafe is also known for its exceptional service. From the exquisitely decorated pastries and cakes to their glamorous interiors and exceptional service, it’s no wonder Pasticceria Cova is a member of the LVMH Group!

Changing from Tradition: Marchesi 1824

Marchesi, one of Milan’s most historic and beloved pasticcerie, is making some exciting new changes! The Prada Group-owned pasticceria recently announced plans to introduce savory options in addition to their delicious sweet treats. It appears that Marchesi wants to move with the wind of other local pastry shops and adopt a more “cafè-style” pasticceria.

Marchesi is a highly coveted pastry shop in Milan, Italy. Since its opening in 1824, the Prada Group — since its aquisition in 2014 — has expanded the pasticceria to three locations around Milan, after perfecting its products — from chocolates to brioche. Considering their dedication to Milanese taste, it’s likely savory items will be just as delightful as their chocolate boxes. However, be sure to take the €€€€ tag seriously; the average cost of breakfast is €25/person.

Prada in the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II

Housed in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the first Prada store, an emblem of style and sophistication, has been standing since 1913. This store isn’t just a retail space; it is fashion history.

As you step through its doors, you’re transported into a world where fashion transcends time. The store, originally named Fratelli Prada, was renowned for its leather goods. But the allure of Prada’s first store goes beyond its products. It’s a symbol of Milan’s fashion legacy, a place where the past and present of high fashion coexist beautifully. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or a history buff, this store is a must-visit.

For those who can’t come to Milan, Prada’s remarkable journey from this historic store to a global fashion powerhouse can be admired through photographs and stories on their website.
