The year was 2013. Byron Buxton was the top prospect in baseball, Mark Appel was the reigning No. 1 overall Draft pick and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 14. Yes, it was a different time back then.

That August — about two months before I began working at MiLB.com — Tiger Woods won the Bridgestone Invitational by seven strokes. Didn’t seem like a big deal at the time; it was his 79th PGA Tour win after all. But the next five years would prove to be futile for the golf great.

That is, until last weekend.

The stage was set, and Minor Leaguers were ready for a show.

Tiger entered Sunday with a three-stroke lead, and he was pretty much in the driver’s seat all day — sporting his finest red, of course.

That he did. Tiger won the PGA Tour Championship, much to the delight of Minor Leaguers, many of whom have battled their own injuries and setbacks.

Other notable GOATs around MiLB Twitter include:

The Minor League offseason officially began on Tuesday, Sept. 18 (following the Triple-A National Championship, shameless plug, yada, yada, yada), which means prospects have to adjust to a whole new routine.

Whatever will Minor Leaguers do for the next five months?

“I saw a dog today. Have you ever seen a dog? You probably have.”

Cats deserve love, too.

Don’t get Braden Webb started on rubber footwear…

Speaking of crocodiles and alligators…

Mets prospect Tim Tebow wrote another book, this one called This is the Day. I’m currently reading it; will let you know how it goes! Anyway, Tebow took a break from his New York media tour for a #tbt to the greatest post-game press conference speech by a college QB who would eventually become a pro baseball player. Don’t @ me. I’m not crying. YOU’RE CRYING.

It was probably a bad idea to put Minoring in Twitter together during lunchtime because now I just want this burger.

Also could go for wherever Nick Longhi went…

*Looks up how much an Uber to Philly from NYC would be*

Enjoy another weekend of college football, you crazy kids!
