Other top prospect performances:

Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara, Triple-A Iowa: 2-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, SB — First Triple-A long ball for Alcantara, who is hitting .262 with just two walks and a .737 OPS in his PCL debut.

Astros C Max Stassi, Triple-A Oklahoma City: 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, R, K — The backstop has homers in three games for the RedHawks. Last year, the 23-year-old homered in five straight while with Double-A Corpus Christi. Stassi’s hitting .279 with five homers and a .930 OPS with Oklahoma City thus far, looking more and more like he’ll be an offensive threat as a big league catcher. Impressive turnaround for the former Oakland prospect since becoming an Astro.

Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk, Triple-A Memphis: 3-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI, K, CS — The 22-year-old is slashing .357/.403/.629 with the Redbirds. He’ll receive his Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove on Tuesday, too.

Mariners SS Chris Taylor, Triple-A Tacoma: 3-for-4, 2 HR, 2B, 4 RBI, 3 R — First two homers of the season for Taylor, who is less a power hitter and more of a contact-first guy. Now hitting .364 in his PCL debut. He was featured in our PCL notebook Monday.

Astros 2B Anthony Kemp, Class A Advanced Lancaster: 3-for-5, 2B, 3B, 2 R, RBI, K, SB — Playing in Lancaster is a nice boost, but Kemp’s been outstanding for the JetHawks thus far. The 2013 fifth-rounder is slashing .347/.437/.569 with six steals.

Dodgers SS Corey Seager, Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga: 2-for-5, HR, 2 R, RBI, K — There are questions about whether he’s a shortstop long-term, but there’s little doubt Seager can hit. The 19-year-old raised his average to .293, and he’s also stolen four bases.

Yankees RHP Luis Severino, Class A Charleston: 5 2/3 IP, 3 H, 8 K — The 20-year-old Dominican has been outstanding in his return to the South Atlantic League, posting a 1.93 ERA with a .170 average against and 19/5 K/BB over 14 innings.

Boston 2B Wendell Rijo, Class A Greenville: 1-for-3, HR, RBI, R, BB — Rijo impressed me personally when I saw him in Spring Training. Really liked his bat speed, and he’s off to a nice start with two homers, a .333 average and a .472 OBP through 13 games.

Pittsburgh C Reese McGuire, Class A West Virginia: 3-for-5, 3B, 2 R, RBI — McGuire also caught White Sox SS Cleuluis Rondon stealing, although he allowed three steals to Adam Engel and another to Tyler Shryock. McGuire has had a fairly quiet start to 2014 offensively, slashing .262/.311/.333.

Baltimore C Chance Sisco, Class A Delmarva: 4-for-5, 2 R, RBI — Cisco is slashing .286/.348/.357 in his full-season debut.
