Other top prospect performances:

Mariners SS Ketel Marte, Triple-A Tacoma: 2-for-4, HR, RBI, R, BB, K — After hitting just two homers in 109 Double-A contests, the 20-year-old already has two roundtrippers in eight PCL games. Power’s not a big part of Marte’s game, however. The switch-hitter uses a compact, contact-oriented swing from both sides and has used it effectively enough to rocket from the DSL to Triple-A in three years.

Blue Jays LHP Daniel Norris, Triple-A Buffalo: 5 IP, H, ER, HR, 3 BB, 9 K — Norris has been outstanding since his promotion to the International League, posting a 1.08 ERA with an absurd 32 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. Norris will be a strong candidate for the MiLB.com Pitcher of the Year award with a 2.20 ERA and nearly 12 strikeouts per nine innings across three levels.

Red Sox LHP Henry Owens, Triple-A Pawtucket: 8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K — Thursday’s was the longest start of Owens’ four Triple-A outings so far. He has a 3.51 ERA in those games, striking out 27 and walking six over 25 2/3 innings. The 22-year-old has brought his breaking ball along this season, giving him the repertoire to hold a mid-rotation MLB role.

[milbvideo id=”35558125" width=”480" height=”270" /]

Red Sox LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, Double-A Portland: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 5 K — The 21-year-old has a 0.74 ERA in four starts with Portland since the Red Sox acquired him at the trade deadline. Rodriguez has put a little more swing-and-miss in his game since the trade, upping his strikeout rate from 7.5 K/9 to 10.4.

Nationals SS Wilmer Difo, Class A Hagerstown: 4-for-5, 3B, 2 R, SB — Difo drove his average up to .322 for the season and is hitting .500 (19-for-38) over his past 10 games. The 22-year-old has been a breakout performer this year, both with what he’s shown in the box score and with what evaluators have seen on the field.

Indians OF Clint Frazier, Class A Lake County: 3-for-4, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R, K — Frazier has continued to strikeout at a high clip, but the rest of his offensive numbers have sharpened as the year’s gone on. Overall, the 19-year-old is slashing .267/.346/.414 with 12 homers in 110 games.

Brewers C Clint Coulter, Class A Wisconsin: 2-for-4, HR, RBI, R, 2 K — Coulter’s 2013 was marred by injuries, but with good health, the 2012 first-round pick has put together a strong ’14 offensively. Thursday’s homer was his 20th of the season, lifting his line to .278/.403/.512 in 115 games.
