Other top prospect performances:

Cubs OF Jorge Soler, Triple-A Iowa: 3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB, 2 K — That’s two homers in three games for the 22-year-old and seven in 31 Triple-A contests. The Cuban product has a .278/.376/.593 line overall with the I-Cubs, and has kept his walk rate in the mid-teens this season after walking in 8.9 percent of his plate appearances in Daytona in 2013.

Astros 2B Tony Kemp, Double-A Corpus Christi: 5-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB — Kemp has driven his stock way up since going in the fifth round of the 2013 Draft thanks to a stellar season split between the Cal and Texas Leagues. The 22-year-old is hitting .351 in his past 10 games, bringing his Double-A slash line to .293/.377/.433 in 52 games.

Mets LHP Steven Matz, Double-A Binghamton: 5 IP, 3 H, 6 K — Matz has allowed just one earned run in his past four starts and has a 2.17 ERA in 11 Double-A outings. The 23-year-old has finally found good health over the past few years and has used it to drive up his prospect stock. With a 2.19 ERA in 23 starts split between St. Lucie and Binghamton, Matz has emerged this year as a legitimate rotation candidate down the road, adding even more depth to the Mets’ promising list of arms.

Dodgers RHP Jharel Cotton, Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga: 5 2/3 IP, 4 H, BB, 6 K — Ever since Cotton figured out he was tipping his pitches to hitters and adjusted his delivery to fix the problem, he’s managed a 1.11 ERA in seven starts. He’s also allowed just two home runs in that time after giving up 16 homers in 14 previous starts.

White Sox 2B Eddy Alvarez, Class A Kannapolis: 4-for-6, 2 RBI, R, K, SB — Alvarez won a silver medal in short-track speed skating in Sochi last winter and immediately began working out to resurrect his baseball career, penning a contract with Chicago shortly after the Draft. He’s 24 and in the SAL, but even so, the results have been promising considering he’s been out of baseball for a few years. In 11 games, Alvarez is hitting .467/.520/.689 with three steals and two homers.

Nationals SS Wilmer Difo, Class A Hagerstown: 4-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB — Offensively, Difo has done a bit of everything this season, bopping 13 homers and stealing 49 bases. The 22-year-old is finishing the year strong, too, hitting .410 with six stolen bases in his past 10 games. Overall, Difo has a .323/.367/.479 line.

Cardinals RHP Alex Reyes, Class A Peoria: 6 IP, 3 H, ER, 9 K — Reyes is finishing the season strong, striking out 30 over his last three starts with a 1.96 ERA. The right-hander has been outstanding this season as a 19-year-old in full-season ball, posing a 3.77 ERA with 129 strikeouts in 102 2/3 innings.

Rockies 2B Forrest Wall, Rookie-level Grand Junction: 2-for-4, R, BB, K, 4 SB — The 18-year-old was touted by many as one of the best pure hitters in the 2014 Draft class, and so far, he’s been as good as advertised. Wall is hitting .326/.414/.477 in 33 games, adding 17 stolen bases in 20 tries.
